Nestled atop the verdant hills of Kolukkumalai, my journey to the tent stay was a voyage into the heart of nature's serenity. From the moment I arrived, greeted by the crisp mountain air and panoramic vistas, I knew this would be a retreat unlike any other. As I stepped into my tent, I was embraced by a sense of comfort and rustic charm. The cozy interiors, adorned with earthy tones and soft furnishings, provided a welcoming sanctuary amidst the wilderness. With the soothing melody of chirping birds and rustling leaves as my soundtrack, I settled in for a restful night's sleep. Awakening to the gentle glow of dawn, I emerged from my tent to witness nature's grandeur unfold before me. Chinese Fishing Nets, Ernakulam

  Chinese fishing nets - Cheenavala in Malayalam - is believed to have been introduced in Kochi by Chinese explorer Zheng He, from the court of the Kubla Khan. The fishing net established itself on the Kochi shores between 1350 and 1450 AD. The sight of the Chinese nets, suspended in mid air and standing in line on the beaches, when silhouetted against the sunset is breathtakingly beautiful. It is, undoubtedly, one of the most photographed sights in Kochi. The huge cantilevered Chinese fishing nets that that droop towards the waters like over-sized hammocks have become a hallmark that represents Fort Kochi on the tourist map. Once just a fishing accessory, it is a now a big bait for tourists.
